Dr. David Minielley Patient Testimonial

Dr. John Minielly was on vacation in Mexico with his wife when he began feeling ill and knew he needed medical attention. He was admitted to a hospital in Puerto Vallarta where he was diagnosed with bacterial septicemia, an abscessed lung and hemorrhagic pneumonia. A few days later, Minielly was transferred back home to the United States to St. John Medical Center’s intensive care unit where he woke up two weeks later with very little muscle function.

After St. John Medical Center, he was admitted to the hospital’s inpatient rehabilitation unit where he would spend the next five weeks rebuilding strength and muscle function. Upon arrival, he was unable to move and relied on others for assistance with getting around and basics activities. With a willingness to get better and an individualized plan of care and intensive therapy sessions, Minielly progressed and regained more function and strength in order to return home with his wife where he continues to heal.

“These centers do work miracles,” said Minielly in his remarks at the grand opening ceremony for the new freestanding St. John Rehabilitation Hospital, affiliated with HealthSouth. “I’m so grateful for all of you; and the results, as you can see, worked for me.”
